hydrafacial faqs

What is HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is an advanced, non-invasive facial treatment that deeply cleanses, exfoliates, extracts impurities, and hydrates the skin using a vortex-fusion technology. It is suitable for all skin types and provides immediate, glowing results.

How is HydraFacial different from a regular facial?

Unlike traditional facials, HydraFacial uses a patented device to deliver a multi-step treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, and infuses the skin with powerful serums. It provides deeper hydration, more effective extractions, and visible improvements in skin texture and tone with no downtime.

What skin concerns does HydraFacial address?

HydraFacial is effective for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Dry and dehydrated skin
  • Oily and congested skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne and blackheads
  • Hyperpigmentation and sun damage

Is HydraFacial safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! HydraFacial is gentle and customisable, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Our specialists can tailor the treatment with different serums to ensure it meets your skin’s specific needs.

How long does a HydraFacial take?

A standard HydraFacial session typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, making it a quick and effective “lunchtime” treatment. The platinum full 6 step process takes approximately 60 minutes.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

You will see an immediate improvement in your skin after just one treatment. Specific skin concerns may require several visits to address, and for optimum continued results, regular weekly or monthly sessions are recommended.

How long do the results last?

The immediate skin improvements will last for several days and can be maintained by using the Daily Essentials products. Regular weekly or monthly visits (depending on skin health) will ensure that the health and appearance of your skin continues to improve.

Are there any contraindications?

Treatment is not appropriate for those who:

  • have taken Roaccutane within the last six months
  • have an allergy to aspirin, prawns or honey
  • have autoimmune disorders
  • are pregnant, or are breastfeeding
  • have had cold sores in the previous month
  • have undergone cosmetic injections in the preceding week
  • have had other procedures to the area recently, such as laser, chemical peels, or waxing
  • have a lymphatic disorder
  • have active eczema, open wounds, or fresh scars on the area.

In addition, it is necessary for all patients undergoing treatment to avoid Retinol and Retin-A products for two days before and after treatment.

How often should I get a HydraFacial?

For optimal results, we recommend having a HydraFacial every 4 to 6 weeks. However, depending on your skin concerns, our specialists may suggest a personalised treatment plan.

Will I see results after one session?

No, there is zero downtime. You can return to your daily activities immediately after your session. Some clients may experience slight redness, but it usually subsides within an hour.

My skin has breakouts after hydrafacial (purging)

HydraFacial Purging refers to a temporary skin reaction where breakouts or small blemishes appear after a HydraFacial treatment. This is due to the deep cleansing and exfoliation process, which brings underlying impurities, oil, and toxins to the surface before clearing them away.

Why Does Purging Happen After a HydraFacial?

During the treatment, HydraFacial deeply cleanses the skin, unclogs pores, and increases cell turnover. This can cause:

  • Small whiteheads or pimples
  • Slight redness or sensitivity
  • Temporary flare-ups in congested areas

Is Purging Normal?

Yes, purging is a natural process and usually lasts a few days to a week. It is different from a regular breakout because it happens in areas where you typically experience congestion. Once the skin clears, you’ll notice a smoother, brighter complexion.

Can HydraFacial help with acne and blackheads?

Absolutely! HydraFacial’s deep cleansing, exfoliation, and extraction process helps unclog pores, reduce breakouts, and prevent future acne. We can also incorporate additional boosters to target acne-prone skin.

Can I wear makeup after a HydraFacial?

It’s best to wait at least 6 hours before applying makeup to allow your skin to fully absorb the serums. However, your skin will look so refreshed and glowing that you may not feel the need for makeup!

Can I get a HydraFacial if I have an active skin condition?

If you have an active rash, severe acne flare-ups, sunburn, or rosacea, we recommend consulting with our specialists before booking a HydraFacial.
